Description
Ultralight. Responsive. Unforgettable.
The Two-Hearted Fly Rod is a 7’6″, 2-weight carbon fiber rod designed for anglers who love chasing resident trout and panfish on small, wild waters. Weighing just 2.8 ounces, it offers a perfect blend of finesse and feel.
Named after the iconic Two-Hearted River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula—where I’ve spent countless days exploring its remote, trout-filled waters—this rod reflects decades of experience on the water. With a medium-fast action, strong mid-flex, and fast recovery, it casts effortlessly off the tip with excellent accuracy. Despite its featherlight build, it tracks well with minimal tip wobble and offers a surprisingly powerful feel for its size.
After over 40 years of fly fishing and testing dozens of ultralight rods, I can say with confidence: this is one of the smoothest, most enjoyable 2-weights you’ll ever fish.
What truly sets it apart? The fight.
Every head shake, burst of energy, and sudden turn is amplified through the sensitive carbon fiber blank—connecting you directly to the fish like few rods can. It turns even modest panfish or trout into a memorable encounter.
The rod comes packaged in a cotton Brook Trout sleeve and a hand-made white pine case as shown. The case is made from Michigan white pine, reclaimed from a 19th century farm house. The hinges and hardware are hand-picked to match the time-period. It’s a beautiful piece of Michigan history. The case measures 27″ long, 4″ wide, 3.5″ high and weighs 5lbs 2oz.

I grew up in Mi and now fish the small waters of the Co front-range. I bought this rod for sentimental reasons (growing up on the Two-Hearted) but WOW was I surprised when I put this rod to the test! LOVE it!!! Its fast action like my Winston in the mid-flex but has more play in the tip section. I can get the fly out there 50+ feet with no problem and it just feels great! I caught a 13” Golden out of Boulder Creek and I’ve never had more fun bringing in a small resident trout.

I bought this rod and small case and I was really amazed with the craftsmanship! I actually sent it back to get the larger case with the reel. Great customer support, really nice guy. James Dickson, Loveland, CO.
