My name is Andrew Mitchell, owner and operator of J.A.Henry Rod & Reel Company. I am an avid fly fisherman, woodworker and rod-builder. My workshop is located in Cannonsburg, Michigan and I have been selling my hand-crafted products online for years.

J. A. Henry Rod & Reel Co. is my fledgling company started in 2020 and is named after my son’s initials (Jack and Andrew) and Henry, our yellow lab. Rod making and wood-working is a labor of love. I build just a handful of rods and cases each month with no immediate plans to expand. The best thing about operating a one-man business is that the important things like creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail is not compromised.
I grew up in Michigan, fishing the smaller rivers and streams of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. The upper Two-Hearted and East Branch of the Fox are two of my favorites. I went to school in Colorado and quickly discovered the challenge of fishing high-altitude Cutthroats and Goldens in the summertime with my trusty Sage 2wt. And in the fall, the un-named glacial streams would produce some of the most vibrant fall Brookies I’ve ever seen.
My goal for J.A.Henry is simple; to share what I think is the best 2wt I’ve ever fished with and package it in a unique case that captures the rich history of early Michigan fly fisherman.
I am an audio engineer by trade and opened the Audio Bay Mastering Studio in Rockford, MI in 1999.
