Description

In the world of fly fishing, where tradition and innovation dance in perfect harmony, the Two-Hearted Bamboo Fly Rod by J.A. Henry Rod & Reel Co. stands as a testament to unparalleled craftsmanship and exclusive artistry. Handcrafted with meticulous care and passion, this rod is not merely a tool, but a legacy.

Each rod is crafted from select Tonkin bamboo, prized for its rare combination of strength, flexibility, and graceful responsiveness. The bamboo is hand-split, carefully flamed, and masterfully planed to reveal a taper perfected over years—yielding smooth, deliberate casts with tactile sensitivity and soul.

The Two-Hearted Bamboo Fly Rod is a 8-foot, 6-weight, 2-piece fly rod, complete with a matching extra tip. This size and action make it ideally suited for a wide variety of freshwater applications—from elegant dry fly presentations to subtle roll casts in tight quarters. The rod delivers a balance of power and finesse, with a feel that resonates deep in the hand.

We produce 4-5 of these rods per year.   Every guide wrap and every silk thread is executed with unmatched care.  In a world of mass production, the Two-Hearted is a rare gem—an heirloom made not just to fish, but to be cherished, remembered, and passed down.

Each rod is housed in a custom wooden case, hand-built from reclaimed 19th-century Michigan barn wood (white pine). These cases are not just protective—they’re part of the story, preserving a piece of local history in every grain. We offer complimentary custom carving on the case lid, allowing each angler to personalize their piece with a name, river, quote, or date of significance.

Whether destined for the waters of the Two Hearted River or displayed proudly in a study or cabin, this is more than just a fly rod. It’s a statement of values—craft, legacy, and a love for angling that runs deep.
