Crafted with precision and innovation, the Two-Hearted 5wt is a testament to the marriage of advanced lightweight materials and classic design.  Constructed from high-modulus nano carbon-fiber, this ultralight fly rod boasts a remarkable combination of strength and featherweight feel, designed to shoot long distances with delicate precision and to enhance the angler’s connection with their quarry.  “A light rod for larger water,” if you will.   It’s 9 feet long and weighs in at only 3.2 ounces.  But don’t let the super-slim, light-weight design fool you, this is a strong fly rod with a 46 ton, nano carbon-fiber backbone.

Its a fast/med-fast action rod, which means it’s action is fast but still has great “feel.”   The rod is constructed with a complement of top-quality components, a proprietary AAA contoured cork handle, and of course a Toray carbon-fiber backbone, the most reliable and advanced modulus carbon-fiber available.  The rod boast a beautiful Chestnut burl wood set against a gunmetal aluminum reel seat.  The rod is finished with a striking dark grey matte finish complimented with muted red guide thread.

*Named after the famed Michigan Upper Peninsula river, the Two-Hearted comes with a Bcotton Brook Trout sleeve and a hand-made case as shown. The case is hand-crafted from Michigan white pine, reclaimed from a 19th century farm house. The hinges and hardware are hand-picked to match the time-period. It’s a beautiful piece of Michigan history. The case measures 31″ long, 4″ wide, 3.5″ high and weighs 5lbs 8oz.

The hardware includes unique, non-mortise hinges salvaged from a 19th century farmhouse. The leather handles are handmade and secured with antique trunk handle caps. Every detail of these cases is considered.

Orvis Battenkill III-Silver click & pawl reel:  I chose the new Battenkill III Silver to pair with the 5wt for a couple different reasons.  1) It is nearly identical to the size, shape and look of the classic Hardy 150 with all the components of a classic click and pawl reel.  It has a classic look and feel!  2)It is light-weight with a very slim profile.  This reel is a “minimalists dream.”  It has a 4 position drag system which is used in concert with the palm of you hand to slow down and fish, just like in the good ol’ days!  3) The Battenkill is machined from a heavy duty bar stock aluminum.  Its durable with minimal moving parts, build to last!

Coaster Fly Box:  This fly box is hand-crafted from Maple wrapped in White oak.  The lid features a hand-drawn Brook Trout design, machine stamped onto a solid brass plate measuring approximately 3.5″ x 1.5″. A magnetic closure ensures secure and seamless access to your flies.

Inside, the box is lined with high-density slit foam on each side, providing organized storage for over 50 flies.
