Watercolor for Michigan’s Coasters — Join Us in Preserving a Native Legacy

In 2002, Michigan artist Mark Steele painted a brook trout rising to a dry fly—a watercolor that captured something truly special. We lost Mark in 2023, but through a mutual friend Chuck Olenciak, we were entrusted with the remaining prints of this remarkable work. We felt there was only one fitting way to put these prints into motion: use Mark’s art to help protect the waters and fish he loved.

To honor the print, we hand-crafted a frame from reclaimed pine and finished it with a brass plate. With a $100 direct donation to the TU’s Coaster Initiative, we will mail you one of Mark’s prints, framed by J.A.Henry – as a gift. We’ve made 25 frames to date – get them while they last!

About Mark Steele
A Michigan native, Mark spent decades devoted to both art and fly fishing. He studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and Northern Michigan University in Marquette. His fishing and painting carried him across Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, into the Great Smoky Mountains, and throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem—always in search of wild water and native fish.
