Since 2018, we’ve been building bamboo fly rods with a simple focus: do one thing exceptionally well. For years, that has meant offering a single model—the Two-Hearted 7’6” 5wt—which we consider a premier bamboo trout rod built for versatility, smooth casting, and classic feel on the water. It’s a taper that has become the foundation of our Two-Hearted lineup and the rod we’ve used to define our approach to handcrafted bamboo.
As our craft has evolved, so has our desire to expand what the Two-Hearted family can offer. After more than a year of development and refinement, we’re excited to introduce a new addition: the 8’ 6wt.
This new taper has been carefully designed to open the door to a different style of fishing—one that handles bigger water, heavier flies, and more demanding conditions, while still maintaining the smooth, deliberate action bamboo is known for. It’s been a long process of testing, adjusting, and fine-tuning, and we’re finally nearing the finish line. We expect the first rod to be completed in early July.
To mark this milestone, we’re also doing something a little different.
Rod No. 001 of the new Two-Hearted 6wt series will be gifted to anyone who makes a $2,000 donation to Trout Unlimited’s Coaster Initiative. This effort is focused on protecting and restoring coaster brook trout populations in the Great Lakes region—fish that are as iconic as they are important to the health of our coldwater fisheries.
